Medical Providers at Winooski Family Health
Ann Goering, MD is board certified in family medicine. She completed medical school at the University of Vermont in 1991 and has served the community as a primary care provider since 1994. Ann is a civil surgeon and has special interests including integrative medicine, working collaboratively with patients and family to create their health plans, and the interface between medicine and society. Not accepting new patients.
Irene Koplinka-Loehr, MD was born and raised playing in the gorges of Ithaca, NY. She grew up with a well-cultivated love of a crisp fall day and the sound of leaves crunching underfoot. She pursued these sounds to Carleton College in Minnesota, where she explored ceramics and photography via a bachelors in Studio Art. She was drawn to pursue Global Health at Ben Gurion University’s Medical School for International Health based out of Beer Sheva, Israel. After four years in the desert she was excited to return to the Northeast to complete a family medicine residency at the University of Rochester. Her personal and professional interests aligned well to bring her to Burlington—she is excited to continue to deliver babies and take care of the full spectrum of patients from birth to end of life care. Anne Knott, MD is board certified in both family medicine and integrative medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University and completed her medical degree and residency in Rochester, New York. After a brief stint in Alaska, she has been in Vermont since 1998. She initially worked in a rural practice in Addison County but relocated north after a cross country trip with her family. Since 2006, she has been practicing in Burlington and Winooski. Anne’s practice interests include integrative medicine and helping individuals to develop tools to engage in their own health goals. When not at work, she enjoys spending time outdoors and with her ever-growing family. Accepting new pediatric patients.
Sarah Tandan, FNP-C is a native Vermonter. She moved to Massachusetts to attend school and was awarded her MSN from Regis College in 2014. She spent two years practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at a busy clinic in inner city Boston. She moved back to Vermont to welcome a little baby girl. Her professional interests include preventative health, working with the disability population, and holistic healthcare. In her free time, Sarah enjoys family time and outdoor adventures with her daughter, Livi, her partner, and her pup. Accepting new patients.
Bang To, PA-C grew up in Winooski, VT and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Biological Sciences and Chemistry from the University of Vermont in 2007. He earned his MS and Physician Assistant Certification from Lenox Hill Hospital through the Pace University Physician Assistant Program in New York City in 2010. Bang is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is Board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Before PA school, he worked as a direct care provider for the Visiting Nurse Association and as a Vietnamese interpreter for UVM. He worked at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, NY after graduation and moved back to Vermont in 2013. He worked at Northwestern Medical Center Urgent Care in St. Alban’s VT before joining Winooski Family Health in 2014. His clinical interests are in Urgent Care and Family Medicine. Outside of work Bang enjoys playing pool and spending time with his family. Accepting new patients.
Sam Russo, ND, LAC, RMSK completed his Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Doctorate Degree in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University, in 2002. An experienced naturopathic physician Dr. Russo has helped many patients with the naturopathic and traditional Chinese medical approaches to healing. He is dedicated to empowering people to create optimal health through education, inspiration, and natural therapy.
His focus on integrative orthopedic medicine utilizes effective, long lasting practices, including acupuncture, herbal and nutritional medicines, manipulation and injection therapies. He uses ultrasound imaging in the office for diagnostic imaging as well image guidance for injection therapies including:
- Acupuncture
- Platelet-rich plasma injections
- Myofascial trigger point injections
- Regenerative Injection Therapy / Prolotherapy
He is past president of the Vermont Association of Naturopathic Physicians and currently serves as advisor to the Office of Professional Regulation in Vermont. Accepting new patients.
Psychiatry Providers at Winooski Family Health
Margaret Spottswood, MD, MPH graduated from University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the Cambridge Health Alliance. She enjoys the challenge of evidence-based psychiatric care using a team approach with patient registries and care managers to provide consultation and care to large populations.
Behavioral Health Clinicians at Winooski Family Health
Kara Fauth, LICSW, AAP received her BA from Colorado State University – Pueblo and MSW from Smith College. Prior to joining CHCB in 2016, Kara worked in various settings including residential, inpatient, and outpatient treatment, as well as a pediatric hospital and an educational setting. Kara most recently worked with Howard Center, providing therapeutic support to high school students and families. Kara provides a strength-based approach to address depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, behavior changes, and stress reduction in order to achieve overall wellness. Kara is also an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained clinician.
Philippa Owens, LICSW, LADC received her BA from Warren Wilson College and MSW from New York University. Before joining CHCB in 2014, Philippa worked as a substance abuse counselor in Boston, and worked with children and adolescents in an outpatient mental health setting. Philippa provides individual therapy with a strengths based, client centered approach, with a focus on building skills and strategies for managing anxiety, depression, and addiction, and improving overall wellbeing. Philippa is an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained clinician.
