CHCB’s mission has always been centered on creating health equity for marginalized populations. At this time, it is especially critical for us to stand united with our community against racism and bigotry in all forms.
CHCB is part of the area’s Population Health Alliance, a group of community partners who worked together to craft a declaration of racism as a public health emergency. With input from our Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, we identified and committed to taking the following actions that will help CHCB take meaningful steps towards an antiracist future:
- Leverage the newly formed CHCB Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee to review organizational policy and procedures to ensure alignment with our goals of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
- Examine new approaches to recruitment that strengthen diversity within the Board of Directors, organizational leadership, and staff.
- Increase staff trainings to address racial health disparities and improve cultural competency levels.
- Actively engage with community partners to create an antiracist culture within our community.
With our organizational history of identifying and reducing health disparities, CHCB is uniquely prepared to act on these goals. We are eager and ready to work together with our staff and organizational partners to promote antiracism and equity for all members of our community.
