Your help with these basic wellness items will help keep our patients healthy this year.
Winter Survival Kit Items:
Frigid weather and winter colds and flu take their toll on our homeless patients who spend many days outside. You can help by supplying kits that contain:
-
Individual-size hand sanitizer -
With the increased threat of the upcoming flu season, individual-size hand sanitizers will be greatly needed for our patients. - A wool hat and/or heavy duty gloves & wool socks (either new or freshly washed)
- Hand warmers
- Lip balm or chap stick
- Hygiene items in small containers such as antibacterial gel, hand/body lotion, disposable razors, band aids and foot powder
- Toothbrush/toothpaste
- A small tissue pack
- Over the counter medications in small containers; Tylenol, Motrin, Imodium, non-alcoholic cough syrup, cough drops, triple antibiotic cream and band-aids.
Welcome Home Baby Items:
Some of our moms-to-be could use a helping hand as they struggle with new refugee status, homelessness, depression or are trying to turn their lives around with substance abuse treatment. Baby items are a real treat and very much appreciated. All items must be new and in original packaging; packing baskets in a laundry basket or diaper bag is practical. Useful items include:
- Blanket
- Early development toy and/or book
- Baby shampoo, wash & lotion (no powder)
- Baby bottle
- Digital thermometer
- Baby safety items
- Diapers
- Infant snow suit (for winter months)
Wellness Kits for Homeless and At-Risk Youth:
For the homeless and at-risk youth we care for at our Pearl Street Clinic, we use wellness kits to bring teens into care, increase motivation to reach health goals, and celebrate their achievement. The best kit items are:
- Travel sized lotions, body wash and gels, shampoo, conditioner and sunscreen
- Whitening toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Small hygiene items like disposable razors, deodorant, shaving cream, cough drops and small tissue packs
- Small gift certificates ($5, $10, $20) to a local grocery store
- Hats, scarves, gloves, mittens (either new or freshly washed)
- Backpacks to pack kits in always appreciated
